5 Batters who Could Score Multiple Hundreds in IPL 2024

The IPL 2024 season will see plenty of world-class batters in action. Youngsters like Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are expected to shine, while veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohl could also come good. Players coming through the 2024 IPL auction could produce the goods, too.

This blog will take a look at the five batters who can score multiple hundreds in the upcoming season

5 Batters Who Could Score Multiple Hundreds in IPL 2024

Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli are two players who scored multiple hundreds in the IPL 2023 season. The Gujarat Titans captain hit three hundreds, while the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper made two centuries. It made him the legendary batter with the most three-figure scores in IPL history.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, one of the biggest superstars of world cricket, had slammed four centuries in a single IPL season. The legendary batter had four tons in a record-breaking season, scoring 973 runs in the 2016 edition. He hit two centuries against Gujarat Lions and one each against Rising Pune Supergiants and Kings XI Punjab.

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore has been in top form from 2023 onwards and has no burden to prove himself. He knows how to get into the zone and start scoring centuries for fun, which we might see in the IPL 2024.

Jos Buttler

In 2022, Jos Buttler came very close to overcoming Kohli’s record. He struck centuries against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. That breakout season, he made 863 runs and played a crucial role in helping the Rajasthan Royals reach the finals, where they would lose to Gujarat Titans.

The England white-ball skipper will be coming to the IPL after a disastrous 2023 ODI World Cup campaign and will look to play with freedom. Butler, the T20 batter, is way ahead of Buttler, the ODI batter.

Shubman Gill

Like Buttler and Kohli above, Gill has the expertise to score multiple hundreds. He knows the Indian pitches inside out, has free-flowing stroke play, and can belt the pacers and the spinners on equal terms.

In the 2023 edition, he was the Orange Cap Holder in a fantastic season where he scored three hundreds. With age on his side, he has ample time to make amends in the IPL, but in 2024, he will return to the same pitches where he made a name for himself.

Devon Conway

Devon Conway is an exception to the names mentioned above. He is orthodox and also an overseas player. And yet, he is a contender as he bats at the top of the order and has the quality of finding gaps at will. Conway, if set, usually doesn’t hesitate to go for the kill. Which means he takes out the pulls and hooks.

Conway has the temperament to hang in there for the 20 overs. It is a bonus on flat tracks, as runs come thick and fast in the final five overs. Conway slammed 672 runs in IPL 2023 and knows how to manage his stroke play against the pacers and the spinners.

Harry Brook

This Englishman can go after the bowler right from the word ‘go.’ After a disastrous IPL season where Harry Brook made just 190 runs in 11 matches, he was let go by Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, he did slam a century, opening the batting against KKR. The high chance is that some team might pick him up, and if he opens, he might score multiple tons.

Brook has solid technique against the fast bowlers, and with his wide range of shots, he instantly pushes the other team onto the back foot. The 24-year-old is fearless and bats with a devil-may-care attitude. He is one of the strong candidates for scoring multiple centuries in 2024.

Concluding Thoughts

Scoring multiple centuries is no easy feat in the IPL, where players just get 20 overs to play. But players like Kohli and Butler have proved that if you can get one century, one leads to two, and two to four. In other words, momentum is the key. If players can get it early into the tournament, then with calculated risk, they can slam multiple tons.
